Issues:

For years, the City of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County have regularly put low-income communities and minority communities in Albuquerque and Bernalillo County at higher risk to air pollution than wealthier, whiter neighborhoods. In 2014, the New Mexico Environmental Law Center filed a complaint with the Civil Rights Office of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency asserting violations by the Albuquerque-Bernalillo County Joint Air Quality Control Board under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 for its pattern of permitting air polluting facilities in vulnerable communities.
