Comments on the New Mexico Cap and Trade Vote

“The NMELC supports the decision by the EIB. Climate Change is the most important environmental issue of our time and we wholly support New Mexico’s move to address it. We have been advocating for a statewide cap (not a cap and trade) on carbon emissions. Our plan and the state’s plan should be regarded as phase 1 and phase 2 of the same plan, with our much simpler program going into effect almost immediately but then sunsetting when the State’s program gets up and running. The NMELC hopes that both proposals will be adopted.” Capitol Report New Mexico
