Arjun Makhijani, PhD author of Carbon-Free And Nuclear-Free: A Roadmap for U.S. Energy Policy will be giving a talk at the UNM Law School on his action plan to free America from its addiction to oil, reduce our carbon emissions, phase out nuclear power and grow an economy that is in harmony with the environment.

Dr. Makhijani, President of Institute for Energy and Environmental Research, holds a Ph.D. in engineering (specialization: nuclear fusion) from the University of California at Berkeley. He has produced many studies and articles over the past twenty years on nuclear fuel cycle related issues, including weapons production, testing, and nuclear waste.

The Impact Fund Awards the Law Center

The Impact Fund is a national public foundation dedicated to providing representation, technical assistance and funding for complex, public interest litigation. It is giving the Law Center an award for its "outstanding environmental justice work on behalf of Native Americans, Latinos and other underrepresented communities."

Law Center Executive Director Doug Meiklejohn characterized the award as "a very special honor from an effective and respected force for economic, environmental and social justice." He will be traveling to San Francisco in May to accept the award.
